Partnership with Reach Out & Read KC
Reach Out & Read KC, which puts new books into the hands of deserving families who might not otherwise have them. RORKC gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. New books donated to RORCK are distributed to kids up to 5 years old by doctors at their 39 clinic sites. Gently used books are placed in clinic waiting rooms or given to siblings by volunteer readers. Half of the funds the club donates to the Pi Beta Phi Foundation's Literacy Fund come back to RORKC to buy books to distribute in 39 clinics in the metro.

Pi Phis have also helped Kansas City's Phoenix Family's HIKE Reading Achievement Program with cash and Amazon wish-list donations. HIKE provides individualized reading instruction to low-income children.

Scholarship & Special Needs Fund
Scholarship & Special Needs Fund is a 501c3 that the club created in 1987 to assist both Pi Phi collegians and alumnae in pursuing educational goals or in meeting financial demands created by personal misfortune. Scholarship grants are awarded twice a year primarily on financial need for Pi Phi collegians who either live in the greater Kansas City area or attend the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, University of Missouri-Columbia or Drury University. Special needs grants are considered at any time and can be used to pay expenses such as rent, groceries, medical bills, or tuition.  The club assists SSNF by collecting donations and support its annual fundraising.

Greater KC Alumnae Panhellenic scholarships
As one of 23 sorority alumnae groups in Kansas City, the club supports the annual Greater KC Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship brunch fundraiser. Panhellenic gives more than $30,000 in scholarships to sorority women who graduated from metro area high schools. Learn more about the scholarship opportunities

Ring Ching Bling: Regifting costume jewelry
Our club supports the local National Council of Jewish Women, which creates jewelry "shops" where children in underserved metro elementary schools can pick out a gift of gently used costume jewelry for a special person for Mother’s Day. More than 750 children at three schools selected gifts this year. That included the 31 lbs of jewelry donated by Pi Phis! Contact kcpiphi@gmail.com to drop off your bags of bling year round.

J.McLaughlin Sip & Shops help our literacy initiatives
Giving back is part of the corporate mission of J.McLaughlin's clothing stores. Each fall and spring, the Plaza store offers the club a "Sip & Shop," when 15% of ALL sales in the store is donated to the Greater Kansas City Alumnae Club's literacy initiatives! Watch for these special events in the club's Arrowlet enewsletters.
